Pinus heldreichii seed
Pinus heldreichii Pinus leucodermis
Pinus heldreichii ‘Malink’ is an upright, pyramidal, dwarf selection of Bosnian pine with dense branching and attractive, dark-green needles. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 4 feet (1.3 m) tall and 20 inches (50 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 4 to 6 inches (10 – 15 cm).
This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the late 1980s by Tånum Planteskole, Randers, Denmark; and introduced to the nursery trade in the mid-1990s by Werner Wüstemeyer’s nursery in Recklinghausen, Germany. Occasionally, one may see this conifer incorrectly listed under the Latinized cultivar name, ‘Malinki’ or ‘Malinkii.’
