This is an evergreen oak tree that grows up to 20 metres (66 ft) tall.

Leaves are 60–110 × 18–40 mm leathery, shiny green above (new leaves purple-bronze) .

Acorns 2-4 together, narrowly ovoid, about 20 × 8 mm, cap has 3-6 concentric rings, ripen in first year.
Height: 20 – 40 feet.
Width: 15 – 30 feet.
