Masson’s Pine (Pinus massoniana) is a fast-growing evergreen conifer of the pine family (Pinaceae), native to central and southern China, Taiwan and northern Vietnam. It reaches 25-45 m, with paired slender needles, reddish bark and small oval cones, and tolerates poor, acidic, degraded soils. It is one of China’s most important timber and resin pines and a principal species in reforestation of the red-soil hills of the south.
