Trees grown from seed, one species at a time. This section gathers our field notes and species profiles for woody plants we have worked with over the years: forest natives, fruit and street trees, shrubs and climbers, and rare species kept alive in cultivation. Each entry covers the plant in its natural habitat, how it grows, what its seed needs to germinate, and how to raise a young plant from sowing onward. Some of these trees are common in gardens; others are hard to find anywhere, and a few survive in the wild only in scattered pockets. Whether you are planting a single specimen or restoring a hillside, the notes come from growing the plants themselves, not from copying catalogue entries.
