Corydalis bungeana, better known as Bunge’s Corydalis, is an annual in the poppy family, native to open, sunny places of the eastern Asia, while it is treasured for its long history of traditional use. In poppy family it is fern-leaved, spurred-flowered corydalis of open places, a small plant of old east with a long and careful record of use. In good conditions it grows to around Forty centimetres. Not many plants ask so little and repay so much.

Uses & Benefits

Growing from Seed
Sow fresh seed of Bunge’s Corydalis under ordinary good conditions. Surface-sow onto a light, well-drained compost, dust over a thin covering, and keep evenly moist and sunny until the seedlings show. Shift the seedlings into small pots as soon as they can be handled, and give them bright light until planting-out time.
Our Take
Its role in herbal practice, noted above, adds depth to an already garden-worthy plant. Once established, Bunge’s Corydalis largely looks after itself. Beginners will find it patient of imperfect technique.
