  • Researchers inspecting seed samples under microscopes in a glasshouse laboratory
  • Potting and transplanting young seedlings in a traditional glasshouse

A working section for plant material that is not sold as seed: dried roots, rhizomes, bark, leaves, flowers and fruit slices prepared for medicine or tea, along with fungi, lichens and other natural products we supply to herbalists and researchers. Many of these species are propagated from pieces of the plant rather than from seed, and each profile explains which part to use and how. The trade in dried medicinal material attracts mislabelled goods more than any other, so our notes include honest comments on identity, naming and quality. Everything here comes from material we have handled and grown, described as we found it.

This section now holds 110 species entries. Last updated November 2026.
