This lovely Allium , though still rare in cultivation will certainly grow fast in popularity. hailing from the Himalayas from Yunnan , through to Tibet and should be hardy to al least -10oC. Broad semi-prostate strap-shaped leaves appear in Spring followed by lovely rounded heads of burgundy red or deep crimson flowers in late Spring and Summer. Germinates easily from a late Winter , Early Spring sowing and the resulting seedlings can reach flowering size in only 2 years.
